Unprecedented achievements in Indian Coal Industry

Technical team of the company is headed by the Founder member Mr Gopal Singh, an IITian, who served the Indian Mining Industry for about 40 years and shouldered various responsibilities including those of Chairman of Central Coalfields Ltd, Bharat Coking Coalfields Ltd, Central Mine Planning & Design Institute and Coal India Ltd. Mr. Singh (B. Tech, M. Tech, MBA, PhD scholar) has the passion for learning, research, mine planning & mining operations.
Most of the largest coal mines of India have been planned under his direct leadership. Some of them are:
i. MAGADH Mine of CCL in Jharkhand with peak annual capacity of 70 MT.
ii. KUSMUNDA Mine of SECL in Chhattisgarh with peak annual capacity of 62.5 MT.
When Mr. Singh joined Kusmunda mine as Project Officer, the mine’s production was only about 6 MTY. It was because of his vision & planning acumen that the annual peak capacity of the mine was enhanced to 62 MTY and Kusmunda produced about 42.34 MT in FY 2019-20 and is likely to touch the peak level in near future.
iii. AMRAPALI Mine of CCL in Jharkhand with peak annual capacity of 35 MT.
iv. Annual capacity expansion of GEVRA Mine to 70 MT was initiated by Mr. Singh.
Mr. Singh served as Chairman of Govt coal companies continuously for 9 years which is unprecedented for any CMD in coal sector and a rarest feat for any CMD in Govt PSUs.
During this period 6 Greenfield Coal Mines with total peak annual capacity of more than 120MT and two major railway projects including Magadh Mine, Amrapali Mine, Tori-Shivpur Railway line, Mcluskiganj - Piparwar Railway line were commissioned. It’s worth mentioning that these projects were lying pending for about decades and miscreants/ mafias were not allowing these projects to get completed. It was because of leadership qualities and ethical, philanthropic & decisive approach of Mr. Singh that these projects could be started.
Not only this, Mr. Singh successfully turned around Central Coalfields Ltd, a company which was heading towards becoming a sick company. During the period (2010- 13) CCL’s production was stagnating around 48 MTY. Coal reserve of major mines Piparwar, Ashoka, Kalyani etc. was depleting fast. Consequently, CCL’s production was bound to come down to 25 MTY.
It was because of Mr. Singh’s planning, design & exceptional leadership qualities that CAGR of coal production during a period of 4 years, after Mr. Singh took over as CMD, jumped to 7.6% which was just 0.5% during the preceding period of 4 years. Thus, the growth in CAGR of coal production during a period of 4 years (Pre & Post Mr. Singh as CMD) was a whopping 1361 % which is unprecedented probably in the history of coal mining in India.
All the major problems of mining and railway projects were duly resolved by Mr. Singh, CCL is likely to produce more than 70 MT during the current year and is bound to produce more than 100 MT by 2025- 26.
